About The Edge Art Club

Art-making with purpose. Growth beyond the canvas.

Welcome to The Edge Art Club, formerly Art Village Kallang.

Our new name marks a new chapter in how we teach, create and grow together. Building on our experience in art education, we have introduced refreshed programmes guided by our Flow to Grow method—with clearer learning goals that support both artistic development and each learner’s personal growth.

We believe an art class can be more than a place to complete a beautiful picture. It can be a space to explore possibilities, make decisions, work through challenges and discover the confidence to express an original idea.

At The Edge Art Club, the artwork matters—and so does the journey behind it.
A New Chapter, With Growth at Its Heart.

Our transition from Art Village Kallang to The Edge Art Club is more than a change of name. It reflects a renewed focus on purposeful, process-led learning.

Our lessons bring together artistic skills, creative choice and reflection. Students receive guidance while having room to explore their interests, test ideas and make meaningful decisions about their work.

Alongside drawing, painting and working with materials, our programmes create opportunities to practise:

  • Focus — giving attention to an idea, observation or creative task.

  • Persistence — staying with a challenge, trying alternatives and learning through revision.

  • Independence — making choices and taking increasing ownership of the creative process.

  • Communication — sharing ideas and explaining artistic decisions.

  • Perspective-taking — listening to others and considering different ways of seeing.

  • Reflection — noticing progress and identifying what to explore next.

These are learning goals we nurture through art, not a checklist every child must achieve at the same pace.

Our Flow to Grow Method
Our lessons follow a six-stage creative cycle:

Arrive → Explore → Focus → Express → Reflect → Grow

This structure gives learners a familiar rhythm while leaving space for imagination, experimentation and individual expression.

Arrive
Settle into the studio, connect with the learning experience and prepare to create.
Explore
Discover materials, techniques, references and ideas. Ask questions, experiment and open up possibilities.
Focus
Choose a direction, look more closely and work on a creative intention or skill.
Express
Bring ideas to life through art-making, supported by demonstrations, guidance and personal choices.
Reflect
Pause to notice what happened. Discuss discoveries, consider feedback and identify what could be developed.
Grow
Recognise effort and progress, refine the work where appropriate and carry new learning into the next experience.
The cycle is flexible. Learners may return to exploration, change direction or revisit an artwork as their ideas develop.

Every Learner Has a Different Starting Point
No two learners arrive with the same interests, confidence or experience. We aim to meet each person where they are and provide an appropriate balance of encouragement, structure and challenge.
For younger children, this may mean discovering materials, making choices and finding the confidence to share an idea. For older learners, it may involve closer observation, more considered planning, independent projects or a developing artistic voice.
Our role is to guide without taking over—to help learners build skills while keeping their ideas and decisions at the centre of their work.

Programmes With Purpose
Our programmes give each stage of the creative journey its own focus.

Twinklettes | Ages 2.5–5
A playful introduction to art for toddlers and early preschoolers. Children explore colours, textures and materials while practising early making skills, expression and participation.

Buds | Ages 5–10
A foundation in creative discovery, artistic skills and growing independence. Children explore drawing, painting, collage and mixed media while learning to develop ideas and make purposeful choices.

Bloomings | Young Artists
A space to deepen artistic exploration, strengthen technique and take on more considered creative projects, with increasing attention to personal expression and reflection.

The Edge Atelier | Portfolio and Fine Art Development
Focused mentoring for learners ready to develop their artistic direction, sustain an independent practice and prepare work for portfolios or public presentation.

Across our programmes, the emphasis evolves with the learner—from first discoveries to greater confidence, intention and ownership.

Individual Expression, Shared Experience
We value the energy of learning alongside others.
Our studio is a place to exchange ideas, notice different approaches and encourage one another. Group experiences create opportunities for conversation and collaboration, while individual guidance supports each learner’s own direction.
Students do not need to produce identical artworks to have a meaningful shared lesson. A common theme can lead to many interpretations—and those differences are worth celebrating.

Guidance That Supports Original Work
Our teaching approach combines practical instruction with thoughtful questions, creative choices and constructive feedback.
We introduce techniques, demonstrate processes and help learners work through difficulties. We also encourage them to consider their own solutions, explain their decisions and explore what makes an artwork personally meaningful.
Rather than measuring success only by how polished a finished piece looks, we also pay attention to the ideas explored, the effort invested, the decisions made and the progress shown along the way.

Our Studio at Leisure Park Kallang
Our studio at Leisure Park Kallang is a welcoming space for making, experimenting and connecting through art.
It is a place where learners can be curious, ask questions, try something unfamiliar and feel supported as their confidence develops. Whether someone is making their first marks or building a purposeful body of work, we want them to feel that they belong.

Growing Together With Families
Parents and caregivers are valued partners in a child’s creative journey.
We welcome conversations about your child’s interests, experiences and aspirations. Through their artwork, creative process and reflections, we can celebrate progress together and identify meaningful next steps.
We encourage families to look beyond “Is it beautiful?” and ask:

  • “What were you exploring?”

  • “How did you decide to make it this way?”

  • “What did you try when something was difficult?”

  • “What would you like to discover next?”

These conversations make room for the thinking, effort and individuality behind the artwork.

Begin Your Creative Journey
Whether your child is discovering art for the first time, building confidence or showing a deeper interest in an artistic path, The Edge Art Club offers a place to explore what comes next.

Come with curiosity. Create with purpose. Grow in your own way.
